To Rest on One's Laurels

A New Year approaches, so like most people I plan on using this annual astrological position of Earth to kick my butt into gear about something. Last year's resolution was to do something to get my writing career off the ground. A few hundred ebook sales of my first two novels later, I feel fairly satisfied that I accomplished that. With sales steady it has been easy to simply stop advertising and promotion and let the tiny direct deposits come. That can't go on forever, though, especially if I hope to one day get more than iTunes and coffee with my book royalties.

I've been bad all December due to various Christmas travels and a certain spouse of mine who wrecked her car and broke her arm (don't worry, she's otherwise fine :) ). However, the plan now is to finally finish the second draft of The Tainted Sliver, which has been hovering at about 75% completion since early November. I believe I can still make my planned Spring 2011 deadline without sacrificing quality, though trust me that I would rather be late than put out something that didn't measure up. All other projects, writing or otherwise, are on hold until the third installment of Tales from the Green is finished.
