Tales from the Green Book Two: The Wizard's Tome is now on Smashwords! I'll get it formatted for the Kindle store later since I am now officially exhausted.
Just like last time I am offering a free Smashwords download via coupon code for the next month. Code XV28M will get you a free download from now until 5/24/10, so spread the word. Still haven't checked out Book One yet? You can get it for only $0.99 at Amazon and Smashwords.
Edit: Here's the Kindle store link for The Wizard's Tome.
Short stories, news, novel excerpts, thoughts on the writing process, poorly done art, and more from independent fantasy author S.D. Best.

Wizard's Tome Cover
After hours of slavery I have finished the cover to Tales from the Green Book Two: The Wizard's Tome. I used a completely new method for this one. Rather than draw the whole thing to be scanned in and then tinkered with, I only did sketches on paper. The rest was all done using Paint.net, from inking to coloring to merging the images into one cover.
The picture was actually three seperate drawings: the dragon emblem I used on the cover to Book 1, a drawing of Alex (the hero of the story), and then the swampy background. I think this came out so much better than the cover art to Book 1. One of these days I'll have to redo the old one, but not today. Drawing by mouse for three hours has turned my hand into a mangled claw. Someone buy me a tablet.

Book 2 Complete!
Tales from the Green Book Two: The Wizard's Tome is complete! Thanks to Microsoft narrator reading the story back to me at a rapid pace over the last week I caught what I think are the last glaring type-o's, which was a big help. If not for being able to hear the story read out loud I never would have noticed an entire page and a half scene was missing from the end. Work on a story for two years off and on and your mind just sort of fills in the blanks, I suppose.
It'll probably be next week before I get this up online. I want to get a cover worked up before I publish it to Kindle and Smashwords. Even though my art isn't too great any cover is better than no cover, and I am getting better at drawing. When I'm a rich and famous author I'll hire someone else to do it, but for now scribbling together a colored pencil drawing and trying to improve it with digital wizardry is part of the fun of being independent.

100 Downloads!
I've been too busy actually writing the past few weeks to post, but I just wanted to announce that Tales from the Green Book One: The Magic Flute has reached the 100 downloads mark at Smashwords and the Kindle store! Granted, the vast majority of these were free downloads so I've netted about $5.00 from my years of work and toil, but I'm the author and I say I get to be happy that people are reading my book.
Speaking of writing for hundreds of hours for no financial gain, TftG Book 2 will be entering its final editing stage. I plan to read the whole thing through once or twice more before formatting, making a cover, and publishing it online, but I think I have something good here.
